【PBA】 PBA News Norm Duke wins Bowler of the Year ESPY
Norm Duke The ESPYS celebrate the top moments, most emotional stories and best performances of the past year in sports. Online voting determined the ESPY winners as fans were able to vote for their favorite athletes in each category. Duke beat out fellow PBA stars Chris Barnes and Walter Ray Williams Jr. "To receive recognition for the efforts required to compete on the highest level in any sport is always meaningful and I am thrilled," Duke said. "The opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of great athletes, and to be alongside those athletes, is one that I will never take for granted. It's a special night for sports and I would like to thank ESPN and the PBA for making it possible." Duke, who won the Bowler of the Year ESPY in 1995 and 2007, won the final two Majors of the '07-08 season to secure a three-season exemption despite battling injuries earlier in the season. His victories in the Denny's World Championship and the 65th Denny's U.S. Open made him just the sixth bowler in history to win back-to-back Majors and the 10th to win two Majors in a season. |

連日の30度を越える暑さにもめげず、応援に駆けつけた多くの観客が見守る中、第24回六甲クィーンズオープンを愛甲恵子が二年ぶりに二度目の制覇を成し遂げました！ 優勝決定戦 ○ 愛甲恵子 266 - 184 × 竹内昭子 昨年の「千葉女子オープン」に続き14勝目を狙う愛甲対2001年の「全日本プロボウリング選手権大会」以来7年ぶり3勝目を目指す竹内との優勝決定戦は、中盤まで両者ダブル・スペア・ダブルとまったくの互角。しかし竹内が6フレビッグフォーでスコアを落とすと愛甲は4フレからの7連発で一気に引き離し涙の優勝を飾る。大会2勝目、今季初・通算14勝目。 ３位決定戦 ○ 竹内昭子 278 - 258 × 中島政江 竹内が激戦が制し愛甲との優勝戦へ進出！ストライク合戦となった3位決定戦は、勝負どこの10フレで中島は10ピンタップ、竹内は見事ストライクをもってきて勝負あり。 ４位決定戦 × 柴田知美 205 - 221 ○ 中島政江 初優勝を狙った柴田だったが中島に先制を許す。後半も中島がリードを守り抜き竹内との3位決定戦へ進出！

【JPBA】 BIG BOX 東大和カップ 【ＴＶ決勝】 日に日に暑さが増す中行われたBIGBOX東大和カップ、最終日の今日は女達の火花が散る熱い一日となりました！ 優勝決定戦 ○ ウエンディ・マックファーソン 224 - 191 × 斉藤志乃ぶ PWBAタイトル20勝のウエンディ対ギネス記録74勝の斉藤との日米決戦となった優勝戦は、ウエンディが序盤1ミス・フィフスで2マークリード。斉藤は我慢の投球で追いすがるが終盤勝負どころでストライクが来ず優勝を逃す。ウエンディは今季初・JPBA通算4勝目を飾る（昨年の「ROUND1 CUP」「全日本プロボウリング選手権大会」2勝に続く） ３位決定戦 ○ 斉藤志乃ぶ 182 - 165 × 松永裕美 微妙なコンディションの変化に、経験に勝る斉藤が勝負に徹しウエンディとの優勝戦へ！松永の初優勝は3度目の正直とならず次回持ち越しとなった。 ４位決定戦 ○ 松永裕美 243 - 215 × 丹羽由香梨 序盤ストライクが続かない丹羽に対し、松永はターキー・スペア・フォースで引き離す。落ち着きをとり戻した丹羽は8フレからﾌフォースをもってくるが時遅し。
ウエンディ・マックファーソン ポジションマッチ1位 vs 2位の対戦は、ウエンディ・マックファーソンが 225-204 で斉藤志乃ぶを破りトップシードを確保。敗れた斉藤は2位。3位松永裕美 vs 4位中谷優子の対戦は、188-156 で松永が勝ち何とか3位で残り、ローゲームで敗れた中谷は7位まで後退。そして5位時本美津子 vs 6位丹羽由香梨の対戦は、丹羽が 216-237 で競り勝ち中谷・時本を抜いて4位でTV決勝進出（丹羽は'05新人戦2位があるがレギュラーツアーのTV進出は初）。時本は追い上げムードの10フレ2投目のガターが響き次点の5位となった。 |

中谷優子 今季2勝（DHC第2戦・イーグルクラシック）を挙げ絶好調の中谷優子が準決勝トップのスコアで予選10位から一気にトップへ！2位に3度目の正直で初優勝を狙う松永裕美、3位に今大会唯一300達成の時本美津子、4位に復帰3戦目でママになって初優勝を目指す吉田真由美、5位にもうすぐ誕生日（7/14）を迎え前祝いとなるか丹羽由香梨、6位に先週「ＪＦＥカップ千葉女子オープン」準優勝ののウエンディ・マックファーソン、7位に昨年の大会（不参加）を除く全ての大会でラウンドロビン進出（8位以内）を果たし相性抜群の斉藤志乃ぶ、そして8位で最後スコアミスでペナルティを払いながらも何とか踏ん張った中島政江が進出した｡

【PBA】 PBA Senior Northern California Classic Nick Morgan Wins PBA Senior Northern California Classic Nick Morgan Nick Morgan, an amateur bowler from Sacramento, Calif., won his first PBA Senior Tour event when he defeated Dale Traber, Cedarburg, Wisc., in the championship match 247-227. Since his junior bowling days Morgan had wanted to be a professional bowler but with the responsibilities of raising a family at home he chose to go to work for UPS and has been with them for the last 25 years. "I'm close to retirement at UPS and I plan to bowl the PBA Senior Tour when that time comes. It (The Senior Tour) seems to be going in the right direction", said Morgan. Morgan attributes his success at the PBA Senior Northern California Classic to playing a straighter line to the pocket than most of the other players. "Straighter was greater this week. I played dead straight all day and I made some good ball changes along the way. I never lost a single game all day" declared Morgan. In his first match, Morgan triumphed over none other than the reigning three-time Senior Player of the Year Tom Baker, King N.C., who owns 10 Denny's PBA Tour titles and eight Senior Tour championships. He then disposed of Scott Hansel-Farrell, Stockton, Calif., in two games of a best-of-three match, and PBA Senior Tour champion Rohn Morton, Vancouver, Wash., 245-236 in the single-game elimination Round of 4. Traber was the final victim before Morgan was given the championship trophy and the $8,000 first place check. In addition to gaining his first PBA Senior Tour championship, Morgan also has some other notable bowling successes. He is the coach of U.C. Davis College who won a collegiate championship under his direction and he is a past winner of a High-Roller in the 40 and over division. "This one is definitely the top of them all by far" acknowledged Morgan. |
