【PBA】 PBA Senior Epicenter Classic 【Final】 Double Eagle
Dale Eagle The Eagle has soared yet again. Dale Eagle won a battle between a pair of nine-time PBA Senior Tour titlist, defeating Bob Glass, 2-0, in the title match of the 2005 PBA Senior Epicenter Classic Thursday evening at Epicenter Bowling Complex. He also put himself in the forefront of the 2005 PBA Senior Player of the Year race, winning his second title of the season. Glass was also looking for his second title of the season. "You always want to be Player of the Year," said Eagle, who won the 2005 PBA Senior Clarksville Open earlier this season. "There are a lot of great players out there and a lot of guys having great years. It would be a great feeling." Eagle narrowly won game one of the best-of-three games title match. Glass, Lawrence, Kan., struck out in the 10th frame, forcing Eagle to double and knock down nine pins in the 10th for a 258-256 win. Eagle then left no doubt about it in game two, winning 278-238. "I made the right decisions all week," said Eagle. "I slowed up my speed a lot...I just used a little flip off my hand and it worked perfectly." Eagle, who defeated Gary Hiday, Indianapolis, 2-1, in the semifinals, wins $8,000 for 1st place. Glass, who advanced to the title match with a 2-0 win over Dick Baker, Henderson, Nev., takes home $4,000. Glass has finished in the top 10 in seven of eight Senior Tour events this season. |

【PBA】 PBA Senior Northern California Classic 【Final】 Packard Prevails
Ross Packard Ross Packard overcame an early blowout to win his first career PBA Senior Tour title, defeating Vince Mazzanti Jr., two-games-to-one, in the title match of the 2005 PBA Senior Northern California Classic Thursday evening at Harvest Park Bowl. Packard, who won the $8,000 top prize, dropped the opening game against Mazzanti, 240-191, but believed he was ready to make a run. "Towards the end of the first game, I felt that I had gotten to the right spot [on the lanes] with the right equipment," said Packard, who owns 27 career PBA Wild Turkey Bourbon Regional Tour titles. "I figured that I was close, and that I had a chance to win." Packard, San Jose, Calif., won game two, 212-200, building up a large enough lead to withstand an open 10th frame. In the deciding game, Packard began with a strike and spare before striking on his next three shots. Strikes in the 8th and 9th frames, combined with Mazzanti failing to strike in the 10th, helped Packard to win, 237-192, and earn his first PBA Senior Tour title in 12 tries. Mazzanti, Levittown, N.Y., was looking to become the first bowler since 2000 to win back-to-back PBA Senior Tour events after he won last week's 2005 American Bowling Congress Senior Masters in Las Vegas. Packard punched his ticket to the title match by defeating Pat Kruse, Castro Valley, Calif., in the best-of-three games semifinal match. Coming off a 187-181 loss in game two, Packard recovered to win the third game, 258-178. Mazzanti dispatched five-time title winner Ron Winger, Westlake Village, Calif., in the semifinals, 2-1.

【PBA】 Senior ABC Masters 【Final】 In-Vince-able!
Vince Mazzanti Jr. After 30 years, Vince Mazzanti Jr. has finally followed in his father's footsteps. Mazzanti, who has dreamed of matching his father's 1968 ABC Tournament All-Events title, defeated Bob Glass, 697-627, in the finals of the 2005 ABC Senior Masters Thursday at Suncoast Bowling Center. Mazzanti, Levittown, Pa., won all seven of his matches en route to his third career PBA Senior Tour title and his first career major. He had to defeat the reigning and three-time PBA Senior Player of the Year Glass to finally win the coveted title. "It's a dream. I've wanted that ABC title for 30 years," said Mazzanti, who has a 4-0 career record in match play against Glass. "If you want to be the best you have to beat the best. After the second game I thought, 'this guy is not going away.' I just took it one shot at a time and tried to execute. You have to take it. He's not going to give it to you." Mazzanti took an early lead against Glass, Lawrence, Kan., by striking on his final six shots in game one, shooting 234 to Glass' 190. Glass came back to out-shoot Mazzanti, 224-205, in game two, but Mazzanti would not back down. After Glass chopped the 6-pin off a 6-10 spare attempt in the 5th frame of the final game, Mazzanti struck in his next six shots clinch the title, winning the final game, 258-213. Mazzanti advanced to the title match with a 744-615 win over Ben Hoefs, Waukesha, Wis., in the semifinals. Glass, meanwhile, advanced to the finals from the loser's bracket, also defeating Hoefs, 763-663. Mazzanti actually beat Glass twice Thursday, knocking him into the loser's bracket earlier in the day. The eventual champion defeated Glass, 784-733, in fourth round of the winner's bracket. The victory gives Mazzanti a spot in next season's PBA Dexter Tournament of Champions as well as the $20,000 top prize. Glass earns $10,000 for 2nd, while Hoefs earns $7,000 for 3rd. 【PBA】 Senior ABC Masters 【Round 4】 Glass Unbreakable
Bob Glass Three-time PBA Senior Player of the Year Bob Glass won all three of his matches Wednesday to stay in the winner's bracket in the 2005 ABC Senior Masters at Suncoast Bowling Center. Glass, Lawrence, Kan., is in position to win his second Senior ABC Masters. He also won the event in 2001 and would become the third bowler to win the event twice. Glass started the day with a narrow victory over Vaughn Doody, Las Vegas, Nev., 739-723, in their three-game match. After defeating Gary Skidmore, Albuquerque, N.M., 688-588, in his second match, Glass had to squeeze out another victory. He got off to a good start in his final match of the day, defeating Rohn Morton, Camas, Wash., 268-204, in the first game, but Morton came back with a 278-207 win to take a seven-pin lead into the final game. Glass, however, marked twice in the 10th for the 222-207 game win and the 697-689 match win. "I had big leads twice and almost gave them up today. I've been luckier than I've been good," said Glass, who owns nine PBA Senior Tour title including one title season. "I'm not making good decisions. I'm hitting the pocket but not always striking. When I am striking, I'm striking a lot, but when I don't, I don't." Glass and seven other bowlers stayed undefeated through three matches, while eight other bowlers survived to Thursday's play through the loserユs bracket. Defending champion Gary Dickinson, Edmond, Okla., was eliminated in two games, falling to Frank De Remer, Lacey, Wash., and Roger Bower, Ocala, Fla., The only undefeated player to come out of the winner's bracket will face the winner of the loser's bracket Thursday at 4:30 p.m. to determine the winner of the $20,000 top prize and a berth in next season's PBA Dexter Tournament of Champions. 矢島純一(4回戦 Greg McMahan 685-608 勝) 酒井武雄(4回戦 Bob Handley 687-713 負 敗退:$1,500 獲得)

【PBA】 Senior ABC Masters 【Round 3】 Down to 63

Packard, San Jose, Calif., started the day strong with a 247 but he caught a tighter lane in game two and shot just 193. A ball change led to a solid finish, as Packard maintained his lead from Monday with scores of 245, 269 and 259. "I feel confident. I had a good look all three days so I feel like I'm going to bowl well." Packard finished qualifying with a 3,639 15-game pinfall, just ahead of Ron Winger, Westlake Village, Calif., who finished 2nd with 3,600. 【PBA】 PBA News Allen Wins 2005 PBA Player of the Year
Patrick Allen The PBA announced today that Patrick Allen has won the 2005 Chris Schenkel PBA Player of the Year Award and Jason Queen has been named the 2005 Steve Nagy Sportsmanship Award winner. Allen, Tarrytown, N.Y., set career highs in nearly every statistical category, winning three titles while earning a Tour-best $350,740 during the 2004-05 Tour season. Allen, who also won the 2005 Harry Smith Point Leader Award, finished 5th or better in each of the PBA Tour's four major events, including his first career major victory in the 2005 PBA Denny's World Championship in Taylor, Mich. "I take a lot of pride in this award because there are a lot of great players who have never won the award. I feel very fortunate," said Allen. "I'd like to thank all the people who supported me through the good times and the bad...going through the learning curve of bowling on Tour is a lot more difficult than I ever imagined. Hard work can pay off." Allen, owner of five career titles, was tied for the Tour lead with 11 top-10 finishes and had at least one top-10 finish on each of the PBA Tour's five standard oil patterns. He was the first bowler to win back-to-back PBA Tour events since Walter Ray Williams Jr. in 2000, when he captured the 2005 PBA Dallas Open and the 2005 PBA Birmingham Open. Tommy Jones, Mauldin, S.C., was second in the PBA Player of the Year voting after winning a Tour-best four titles last season. Chris Barnes, who won the 62nd U.S. Open presented by Odor-Eaters for his first career major title, was third. Others receiving votes were: Tom Baker, Parker Bohn III, Jason Couch, Norm Duke, Steve Jaros, Mika Koivuniemi, Robert Smith, Brian Voss, Walter Ray Williams Jr. and Danny Wiseman. Queen, Oreana, Ill., won the PBA Steve Nagy Sportsmanship Award for the second time since becoming a PBA member in 1999, having also won the award in 2003. Queen finished 56th in the 2004-05 PBA World Point Rankings, with his best performance coming in a 9th place finish in the 2005 PBA Atlanta Classic. Queen has been nominated for this award on numerous occasions. "This definitely is an honor because you're getting the award from the greatest people in game - people you call competitors and friends," said Queen. "It's a true honor to know they view you in that way. It means a lot to me" Tony Reyes and Ritchie Wolf tied for second place while Tim Criss and Rick Lawrence also received votes. The Harry Golden PBA Rookie of the Year Award was not awarded for the 2004-05 PBA Tour season since no bowler fit the criteria to be nominated for the award. To be eligible for the award, nominees must have less than seven career PBA Tour appearances prior to the start of a season and earn an exemption for the following season. The PBA Player of the Year Award is named after the long-time television play-by-play announcer Chris Schenkel. Schenkel provided commentary for the PBA Tour for 36 years and was elected to the PBA Hall of Fame in 1976. Steve Nagy, a member of the American Bowling Congress and PBA Hall of Fame, is the namesake of the PBA's Sportsmanship Award. The award is given annually to the PBA professional who demonstrates the highest degree of sportsmanship on Tour. The PBA Tour Awards were voted on by PBA members after the completion of the 2004-05 season.

I made up my mind not to do that this year." Rohn Morton, Vancouver, Wash., ended his week on a high note, firing back-to-back 300 games to close out his round. Morton, now with nine career PBA 300 games, failed to make the cut after finishing tied-for-52nd. Chris Loschetter, West Melbourne, Fla., averaged 226.56 over his nine-game set Sunday to lead the group of 10 bowlers, finishing with a 10,086 45-game pinfall. "Every night before I went to bed I thought about what could go wrong, but when I got out (to the lanes) I just calmed down and did what I had to do. I was just keeping my eyes on 10th place." Heading into the final game, six bowlers between places 6-12 were within 45 pins of each other. Ritchie Allen, Columbia, S.C., who missed an exemption by two spots in the 2004 PBA Tour Trials, fired a 259 in game nine to move up from 12th to 9th, finishing with 9,757.
